job listing: burglar

burglar. wouldn't it be cool to be a secretive and successful thief?
okay okay okay, i know that i sound insane. but seriously, what better way to make loads and loads of money? think about it: there's meticulous research, extensive planning, massive creativity and imagination, and a buttload of adrenaline and guts needed to be a burglar. and teamwork! teamwork too. and patience -- if anything, that's a virtue in this line of work. if you can do all those well, that's a skillset worthy of notice. seriously.
granted, it's not the most respected or glorious of careers, and there's always that possibility of being caught, prosecuted, and sent to prison for the rest of your living days (or being killed in a police shootout). but really now, at least you can say you've led an interesting life.
who can honestly declare that they didn't like the italian job or thomas crown affair? or hello, ocean's 11? and i know there's a bazillion other movies out there that'll also convince you that burglary is .. well, just a little glamorous. :) you get to travel! and pretend to be different people! and speak new languages and learn about crazy security systems.
alright anyway, while others are probably horrified (and poor) because of these brazilian thieves, i'm simply amused.. and kinda impressed too. it's hilarious -- these guys stole $67.8 million from a Central Bank vault in Sao Paulo, Brazil after digging a 262-foot-long, 28-inch-high tunnel, 13 feet below ground, for the past 3 months. not too shabby, i'll say. no one died, no one's hurt, and those burglars are probably basking on the beach, drinking some good wine right now. oh, and,
"The crime that netted $67.8 million was remarkably similar to a tunnel heist last year in which more than $1 million was stolen from a Sao Paulo company that transports money for banks. The suspected mastermind of that caper reportedly had escaped from prison three years earlier -- by digging a tunnel."
hahaha.
