mid-may, one year later
sooooooo
it's mid-may, 2007. and last year, during this time, i was running around like a headless chicken in dc. this year, i'm ... not running (or am i?). but still sorta headless. things are improving, right?
in the past months, i've:
- visited the gray and dreary, but always awesome, city of boston
- worked lots and lots and lots -- fishies and kids!
- spent a whole saturday doing earth day stuff (which started at 7am)
- survived earth day, thanks to lots of advil and coffee and water...
- went to yosemite! which was totally amazing. and kinda nutty.
- climbed a (trad) 2-pitch! and scared the living crap out of myself!
- fixed a bajillion things on my slopey-butt car
- those bajillion include: flushing the brake fluid, changing oil, checking hoses, cleaning and lubricating those retarded battery terminals, replacing air filter, rotating all 4 freaking tires, and getting my timing belt, water pump, and transmission fluid replaced. holy cow am i poor now.
- ran bay-to-breakers! it's a 12k race in san fran, but it's essentially a gigantic street costume party on the 3rd sunday of may each year. i ran (literally, ha) into quite a few buck-naked men, lots of floats with kegs, stormtroopers, spartans, a whole sesame street cast, and um.. lots of others. hilariously awesome. and there were flying tortillas too. and yes, i ran the whole thing with a camera in hand. actually, i walked the first 2 miles because it was too crowded to run, there were too many people/costumes to look at, and i was giggling too hard.
that was snuffleluffugus. (spelling?) costumes galore!
the actual sf police and construction workers just stare at the ridiculousness from above. haha.
- back to running. 3 races this year already. what's wrong with me???
- rollercoastered a lot.
- biked to work a lot. it's kinda neato. but i also went kaboom once. oops.
- done a ridiculous amount of laundry. no really, i have. i don't know why.
- went to the sf beer and oyster fest. oysters are pretty yummy.
- ventured hesitantly into a gay bar on castro, on behalf of dave. hahahaha. and ran into laura, one of my co-interns from chicago 3 years ago, while there. even funnier.
mm.. so summer is coming up. and i'm seriously looking at sailboats to live on. and saying bye-bye to my dear roomie who's moving in with her boyfriend. and wondering what's next next next.
i still love my 10-hour days on the boat, splashing around in salt water and mud, and letting the fish flap at the kids. or when i go to the tidepools to work... those programs are nice :) but having pondered recently, i think i know what i want out of a job now.. it's just a matter of finding it. how long do you think it'll take? how much do you think i'll make? haha.
mmm.... may. may is always a crazy month. more photos to come... once my computer stops freaking out.
