news flash

a couple of interesting things in the past week:

first off, i [heart] apple. :O) in addition to the hyped motorola/cingular music-playing ROKR cellphone, apple also released the new ipod nano. and man, it's just cool. :) it's supposed to replace the mini eventually (boo, i like my mini!), but whatever its predicted pipeline path, it's just uber-neato.

second, this weekend marks a 3-game red sox vs. yankees showdown in nyc, the first since last july (i think). oooOOOOoooo!! the yankees are struggling to hold onto the AL wildcard with only 0.5 games ahead of the indians, while boston cruises in the top spot of the AL east, 4 games ahead of the yankees. in the meantime, the yankees, being the generous and altruistic $206 million team they are, has donated $1 million to the salvation army for hurricane katrina. so in reality, that's kinda cool (record that sentence, i won't say it again).

third, this comes from a circulating email at the office. it's from SkyNews, the british equivalent of CNN (www.sky.com/skynews/home/). hahahahaha....

fourth, POOH to hurricane ophelia, which is presently churning off the atlantic coast of florida. and BOO to the most recent earthquake in papua new guinea. will the natural disasters please stop already?! :( and i can only hope that katrina's cultural, political, economical, and humane disaster will... end soon. and make us aware of our vulnerabilities.

fifth and lastly, last weekend in philly was fantabulous. i ran up the rocky steps, ate a real cheesesteak, played horseshoes for the first time (haha), didn't lose at monopoly (!), and climbed trees along the schuykill river. :O) woohoo for high school reunions.. hehe. yay, it's lyndsie, carolyn, and moi amidst branches.
