it's funny how some things are so calm now.
and how some things aren't at all.

the other day, while driving, i heard that baz luhrmann song on the radio that was sorta an anthem for the class of 1999 (or maybe it was 2000?) -- "always wear sunscreen." you've heard it; it's the one where he dispenses advice to pop/rock background music. i remember, as a high school kid, that i found the song kinda amusing, slightly introspective and thoughtful, but i wasn't like... "whoa, such sage advice and suggestions!" nowadays, same deal -- i pretty much think the same thing. except that i noticed a few things --

sunscreen IS important.
and there's a part where he talks about living in northern california once in your lifetime but leaving before you get soft. and living in nyc once but leaving before you get hard. haha. i thought about living in nyc a few weeks ago; it'd be so much fun. i also thought about snow the other day. but california kinda unintentionally kidnaps too. haha. am i soft yet?
