TED

not the airline.

it stands for technology, entertainment, and design, and it's an annual conference in monterey, where thousands of people get together for a series of talks -- 18 minutes each. and these people who speak are.. just simply AMAZING.

they are the ones at the edge of technology and discovery and new-fangled ideas and perspectives, about everything from medicine to art to the environment to high-tech to the convergence of all 4 of those fields and more. so awesome. and so inspiring.

wanna know why it's interesting to me? there's this one 19-year old princeton sophomore who gives a talk about her interest in medicine, cancer, stem cells, differentiation, all that jazz. most times, with regards to biology lectures, i immediately fall asleep. but with her, everything she said -- technical or not -- i understood and found fascinating. how crazy! i haven't experienced that in a while.

the talks are online, check them out.
