radio contests and other dissimilar things

i've never won anything in a contest or raffle. this isn't anything that i'm bitter about -- i don't dwell on it, and i really only enter contests on a whim, when they're free and easy.. and i have time to do those random things.

however.

recently, a local radio station has been having these amazing free packages ... AMAZING packages. they're 5-night (or 7-night!) full trips, airfare and lodging included, to random islands of hawaii, and all you have to do is listen at the top of the hour and text the right keyword. and if you're the 97th texter, you get entered into that week's raffle. you have a 1 in 68 chance. 1 in 68 -- THAT. IS. NOT. BAD.

it's SO easy but SO damn hard!! and god knows how many text messages i've wasted. shh, don't tell. we'll sit in the car for an extra 10 minutes, in the dark, parked, just waiting for the keyword. it's slightly ridiculous, i'll admit, but a teeny part of me HOPES that something supremely exciting will happen.

and it has!

i've qualified TWICE. shit, it is SO exciting when a little text message pops back saying, "you are a winner!" and i eagerly call to give them my name, number, and contact info. but every friday morning, i DON'T receive a 7am wake-up call with a grandiose announcement that i'm a winner. sigh. needless to say, i don't sleep that well on thursday nights.

haha. like i said, ridiculous. but somewhat exciting. hey, you take what you can.

anyway, besides radio contests, i've been taking 10-20 minute naps at like 7pm every night. i cannot understand what's wrong with me. i feel like i'm entering "elderly" mode or something. i don't need these naps, right? and today's run felt AWESOME. but daily naps? i'm either reverting to age 5 or speeding ahead to age 80.

also, bear grylls on the discovery channel is, for some really odd reason, going about his survival adventures in an urban city...?!?!?! he's digging around old bulidings full of rebar, crumbled concrete, and random rubber mats. wtf? go back to the jungles of cambodia!

last random item of the evening: i'm fully immersed in hiring for the summer, and as much as i say this, i really do enjoy this part the mostest. i met up with my LI for video game design, and we brainstormed awesome stuff. and i welcomed an alumni AI onto my team. and it rocked.

whoopity! L is at the studio, his first home. haaaaaa.
