i would like to be a congressman. why, you ask?

i'll tell you why -- a congressman's work schedule is ridiculous. it's so ridiculous that it's amusing. these people are the ones who are making and changing our laws, and they work... wait, it's coming... less than 8 months out of the year. 8 months. and each month, they get a 1-week break too. unbelievable!!! 8 months of work, a lot of skipped committee meetings, a bunch of money and press, and a shitload of vacation.

the 109th Congress (2005):
Jan 4: 109th Congress convenes
Jan 17 - 21: MLK District work period
Feb 21 - 25: President's Day District work period
Mar 21 - April 1: Spring District work period
May 30 - June 3: Memorial Day District work period
July 4 - July 8: Independence Day District work period
Aug 1 - Sept 5: Summer District work period
Sept 30: target adjournment

yeah yeah, i'm sure they do some sort of "work" during that 120-day break... but c'mon, this is government we're talking about here....
